I have an older 9x20 lathe. The other nite the motor started making some freakish noises and blew my breaker. Took everything apart, opened the motor and one of the wire nuts had melted. Re wrapped with some electrical tape and hooked it back up only to have the same thing happen again. The motor(1/2 hp) spins freely and I suspect(hope) its the cap going bad. My question is Grizzly only sells a 60 MFD 250VAC cap mine is a 40MFD 250 VAC. Can I use the 60mfd? |

| Have you tried any local motor winding companies? It could be the centrifugal start winding switch gone, if so a cap will not help. Al.
