Help Siemens Simatic C7-626

Hi I have a question regarding this controller I picked up at the scrap yard.
From what I can find out it is a HMI interface and requires special software
to program and setup. My question is what use could this unit be for CNC
work, can it be setup and used as a controller etc..
the unit powers up and displays ok and unit has a lot of analog and digital
in/outs and what looks like a monitor connector and parallel plug. the siemens
web site is to technical to understand for me. My impression is it is nothing more than an expensive programable if/and/not relay controller. The control
box did contain some nice electrics for use in future projects so if this thing is of no use its not a total loss.
