| what controller do you have? or what it's max amps? stepper can take overload on the amps alot more then the controller. so most time you fuse to protect the controller. also you have to make sure the fuse is still smaller then the max amp size of the power wire. |

| i got Oregon Micro System MH10. and Powermax II model: p22NSXA 3.3amp bipolar series, 6.5 bipolar parallel. Link to data sheet. On page27 table 7 shows the current chart. also i have 5v 15Amp power supply, do i need limit down the current before connect it to circuit board? thanks for you help. |

| pdf says to use a 5amp fuse. sounds good. make sure you use the wiresize listed in the pdf. also you shouldnt need to limit as it looks like a mircostepping controller. But you should read the pdf and make sure as i dont want to be the person that told you something wrong and it burned out your controller ![]() goodluck |

| think of amperage as "flow" through a pipe (GPM), voltage is the pressure in the pipe and resistance is a blockage in the pipe.....your machine will only pull as much amperage as it needs to do the work. so some math needs to be done to determine wire sizes, fuse sizes ect.... one fuse on the system is a good start but you need to isolate the different systems from each other to ensure safe operation. |
