question about power supply

I was wondering if this power supply, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT, would work with my servos 2 are the cliffton precision 36v 20a cheap ones that I have seen elsewhere on this site and the z axis is 38.2 volt winding with the following characteristics;

torque constant......8.22 oz-in/amp

back emf constant....6.08 volts/krpm

resistance...........7.3 ohms

inductance...........6.35 mH

I want to buy 3 gecko 340 drives, this is for my small router. Thanks

Hi Greg,

I'm guessing here, but that type of power supply may yield 20 amps when the voltage is low, and when using 40 volts, the amps would be low. I can't say from the info and "distant" pictures whether it will put out 20 amps at 40 volts simultaneously.

I got this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT. Looking on the lambda site it looks to be 48v and 32 amps. Will it work I got Gecko 340s on the way.

I'm learning too...but I thought I read someplace that it was preferred to use unregulated power supplies for motors (?) That supply looks like it has a ton of electronics...hopefully the (widely) varying load that the motors put on it won't give it fits.

Hi Greg, Chris,

I talked to Mariss about "switching power supplies" as this is what you have purchased. He says they work fine. I too got one of similar design and it works great. You'll still need to put in the filter/cushion capacitor(s) though before running to your Geckos.
