I was wondering if this power supply, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT, would work with my servos 2 are the cliffton precision 36v 20a cheap ones that I have seen elsewhere on this site and the z axis is 38.2 volt winding with the following characteristics; torque constant......8.22 oz-in/amp back emf constant....6.08 volts/krpm resistance...........7.3 ohms inductance...........6.35 mH I want to buy 3 gecko 340 drives, this is for my small router. Thanks Greg |

Hi Greg, I'm guessing here, but that type of power supply may yield 20 amps when the voltage is low, and when using 40 volts, the amps would be low. I can't say from the info and "distant" pictures whether it will put out 20 amps at 40 volts simultaneously. Bloy

I got this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT. Looking on the lambda site it looks to be 48v and 32 amps. Will it work I got Gecko 340s on the way. Greg

I'm learning too...but I thought I read someplace that it was preferred to use unregulated power supplies for motors (?) That supply looks like it has a ton of electronics...hopefully the (widely) varying load that the motors put on it won't give it fits. -Chris

Hi Greg, Chris, I talked to Mariss about "switching power supplies" as this is what you have purchased. He says they work fine. I too got one of similar design and it works great. You'll still need to put in the filter/cushion capacitor(s) though before running to your Geckos. Bloy Last edited by Bloy2004; 11-20-2004 at 01:23 PM.
