CNC conversion for verticle mill | | I recently bought a used Webb mill 4VH with 9x49 option table, I've been using it quite a bit recently but also been putting some work into to make it run smoother, I am trying to get my Manufacturers FFL to produce gun parts and a CNC would be more helpful than the manual.
I want to build my own 3 axis (with possibility of a 4th axis rotary table [eta] or an automated indexer) conversion for this mill, the manufacturer makes a conversion buts over $12,000 and they sell 2 or 3 axis conversions and they have to install it. MILLPWR by ACU-RITE is the name of the setup.
I am hoping to find something that is as user friendly as the windows based PC for a controller and not cost as much as the millpwr kit, realizing I'd be doing the work myself I don't think it can be that hard.....can it? Or is finding stepper/servo motors going to be my downfall?
Below is what it looked like when I bought it, believe me it looks like a mill rather than a chip collector now that I have it. |
