I have a Fanuc OM/C controller that has been retrofitted to an old Bridgeport II vertical mill. The controller has been set up to use 3 axis and the spindle.
I recently came in to possession of an AG Davis rotary table that i would like to interface as a fourth axis with my Fanuc controller. Upon inspection of the box I realized that i would need the appropriate servo amplifier and servo motor. I bought servo motor and amplifier relatively identical to the ones already used in my setup.
I am in the process of ordering cable and connectors, but I realize that I might be getting ahead of myself. The firmware (ladder logic?) of the controller is not set up for a fourth axis, although the controller itself has fourth axis buttons and a fourth axis connect on the motherboard.
Do I have to flash the firmware, or reprogram the ladder logic to use a fourth axis? What steps am I missing?
There is also a Option parameter that has to be purchased.
I also sent some info in PM.
Is this rotary axis capable of being an interpolated 4th axis or just index positioning?
