Question Wii remote with CNC?

This may have been discussed elsewhere already but I didn't find it in my searches. Has anyone attempted to use a Wii remote in a CNC setup? Something along the lines of this: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/ I don't know that the led's would lend themselves to centering like the web cams do. Maybe as a limit sensor system or some sort of tracking system? Just curious on any ideas there might be for this.

Thanks,
Rob

Cool stuff. Preciate the video. That's using more the gyro and accelerometer of the wiimote correct? I was thinking about the infrared camera of the wiimote for machine coordinates. Like the web camera for centering maybe. Not sure if the precision is there for it to work for CNC though.

I'm not sure what all they used in the video?

Here is a link to more info about the above video.

From what I gathered, he just used the accelerometer input of the wiimote to find the closest match to some preconfigured movements and then tell the machine which "canned cycle" to move. The last part though about the airgun sounds interesting.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to write software that would convert the infrared targeting on the WiiMote to aiming points for the Kuka, so we couldn’t put an airsoft gun on it. Oh well. I would like to play with the WiiMote some more some other day and learn about the infrared.
Here's a few more links that were interesting:
