Hi, I'm new here... browsing for info most of the time but I have a question now. I built this 3 axis stepper motor here: http://pminmo.com/3axis/3axis.htm and I'm using 3 applied motion stepper motors (Unipolar PN: 44A501771), each one having 6 wires. My question is how would I wire the six wires? I'm aware of wiring the center tap of each motor to V+ but what about the remaining 4 wires? I checked on Applied motion's website (http://www.applied-motion.com/support/wiring.php#6u) for wiring specifications but the wiring is slightly different (2) on these motors... if it helps any, there's a yellow, white, black, green, blue and red wire. Thanks in advance! Last edited by cheenew; 08-04-2008 at 08:36 PM. |

| Ok... so if I had to guess, I'd wager that the 2-position terminal block on the lower part of the board as pictured is where you connect the center taps from each coil, since these are just power supplies, at least that's how the unipolar drivers I've built have worked. The 4 other connections for each motor are switches that complete the circuit to ground, and allow power to flow through that part of the coil. However please consider this only a suggestion to be used at your own risk as I am not really familiar with this circuit. Also if you are not sure which wire is which you can determine them with a multimeter pretty easily: http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~ih/doc/stepper/others/ |
