Question Need Help Please !!

Please could anyone help me ! I need to build my own driver board to drive unipolar steppers (surplus printer steppers)
I`m not looking for anything fancy i just want to make a start

So far i have collected numerous ic`s ULN28003, ULN2003,74LS74,74LS86,L293D,TIP120 various resistors, capasitors etc. but i can only find minimal info on the web.

All i want is a straight fordward schematic or breadboard layout
If you could help i would be more than greatful I have been on this for weeks now

Try this eio stepper info .

There is a translator circuit to convert step/direction signals from your computer or switches to driver signals and a driver circuit to connect directly to your motor.

I googled this: "stepper motor driver"; and got over 4,000 hits.

stepper driver

Hi Shaggy;

They have all kinds of circuit board kits and I saw they had a stepper driver in their cataloge. The board was under $10. I think the parts were all there but needed assembly.

They have tons of power supplies too.

Shaggy,

Which software you're gonna use? TurboCNC can do wave drive so no translator circuit needed.

What's the steppers motor rating (voltage, current, etc)?
Your driver need to be sized for the stepper you have.

Thumbs up Slowly but surely

Thanxs for the help fellas.

I have managed to make one from scratch and it actually works!

This has took me an eternaty and cost me many hours of trial and error, but it realy was a beuitiful sight to see those motors turn

All I have to do now is refine it and start building my machine I really cant wait, once again thanxs for replying.

My Project

Here is my latest project. This is my second CNC mill. The first mill worked great using the Xytlotex board but my design was not rigid enough to machine steel.

The second CNC mill uses 550 oz/in steppers. Travel in "X" is 26" and "Y" is 14".

I"m using Gecko drivers an Axxus controll board. I'll wire it up this weekend.

First CNC mill; Notice how wimpy the "Z" axis is. I'll probably rebuild the "Z" axis after I see how the next machine performs.
