    5 or more axis Breakout?

    Greetings

I am looking to install a 5-axis to my DIY router-table. Currently using a 4 axes breakout for a 3 real axis, one in slave mode. I have 4 motors with 4 Gecko drivers.

I need a breakout board for 5 or more axes. Any idea?

Use two. I've never seen one that supports 5 axis.

    Forgive my ignorance.

If I can use two breakout, I use two parallel ports?. The EMC or Mach software support two simultaneous parallel ports?

If this is so, the solution is very easy. You know of any example?

    Thank you

Some break out boards, like Tom Caudles's Mini IO, will let you piggy back another BO board without a 2nd parallel port. In fact, The Mini IO MIGHT just support 6 axis with the EZ Plug cards.

    Greetings -- and welcome aboard!
The CNC4PC breakout boards will support up to 6 axis. The c10 is very reasonable price as I recall. Now as to the slave motor -- can't you configure that in MACH? Don't know what set of programs you plan on - but MACH3 (and 2) are very popular and affordable.
    Here's a link to the c11 board -- don't know if the 10 is still available: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Multifunction_CNC_Board.htm
    hope that is helpful.

Actually, I should say that I've never seen one that is setup or designed for more than 4 axis. The CNC4PC board mentioned above, is labeled for 4 axis, but has 12 output pins, so you should be able to connect 6 axis to it. Most breakout boards will be similar, but it depends on how they use their output pins.

I have set the cnc4pc c11 up for 6 axis work -- have yet to figure out what and how to cut something with it now

I really wanted to get to 4 axis for starters and it works well for that.

    :cheers; Jim
