well my my router is working fine but now i want to have the spindle turn on and off by the software. i have a 5v relay which works fine on the router. Now it seems that the parallel port can't drive the relay directly so I think I need a small circuit to drive the relay does anyone have any ideas maybe a fet or transistor. Thanks Tom |

| There have been previous post on this subject if you do a search, I had mentioned using a fetlington 2n7000 that will do the job to drive a SSR or relay. Al

| You can get a TIP120 at radio shack (276-2068) that will drive the relay just fine. You will also need about a 1k resistor(271-1118) and a power diode like a 1n4003 (276-2068). This page has a diagram about halfway down the page showing how to hook it up. http://www.ee.ttu.edu/lab/robot/trans.htm You can probably do without the .1uf cap but it can't hurt to add it. Probably under $3 in parts even at RS prices. jeff |
