Hi, I'm trying to assemble a little cnc project, nothing fancy...it's my first experience so I need/want to keep the costs down. I'm planning to build a 3 axis machine, so far I’ve gathered 3 little stepper motors that i think will do the job. I've removed 2 steppers from an old lexmark dot printer... one is made by airpax (p\n sk 82701 si) so far i'm getting little information about stepper specs, and the little I’ve found is contradictory! AIRPAX SK82701 24V IBM P/N 6328861 VOLTAGE 4.1V DEGREE PER STEP 1.8 Manufacturer SANYO CURRENT 1.1A and this... Technical data: -- Step angle of 15 ° (24 steps) -- Operating voltage 24 V -- Strand resistance 12 it’s a bipolar motor with 4 wires, I've measured aprox. 6 ohms at each coil. Does anyone know the stepper true specs? Thanks |

| Hi joshua I got the same motors from a printer and you have found more info then me! personally I would er on the side of caution and use the lower voltage which would at least save the motors. You say yours are on 4 wires well mine are on 6 I assume it is a standard bipolar design easiest way to find out is to get your multi meter out and test the resistances. But I'm sure you know that already as I am complete plank. catch ya soon and let me know if you get to the bottom of the supply voltage . Do yours have dirty great heat sinks on the back? |
