I have a question in regards to the power voltage input to our cnc machine. We just purchased a Daewoo (fanuc control) Puma from Canada. The required voltage input is stated as 200/220 volts & 50/60 hz (max of 175 amps). My question is: we have 480 vdc throughout our building. I have purchased a 480vdc to 240vdc transformer to input to the machine. I was hoping I'd be able to tap down to the 220vdc range but can only get down to 230vdc. Will 230vdc still be too high? I am used to seeing a +/- 15 vdc input acceptance. I am hoping this will work, but do not want to jeopardize the electrical system of an expensive machine. I could always get a custom made transformer to input 220vdc (though I'd have to uninstall the present transformer). Thanks. |

| I have always found that Fanuc state 200vac supply +-10%, Go as high a voltage tap setting as you can on the primary taps, this will give you lower secondary. You should be able to get a 220v sec. or use a buck/boost transformer. Al.

| thanks for the reply... to clarify the best method to go about this... it seems that while I still have the capability to switch out transformers (with a re-stocking fee of course), it would be best to use a 480V to 208V transformer. otherwise I'd need to get a buck-boost transformer (which seems like overhead). Unless, I can take a 480v to 240v transformer and get the 240v down to 220v...which seems unlikely, unless I could try tapping down the primary leads as suggested. |
