Looking for a simple one axis 24" DRO for a project i'm working on and wondering what options are out there. I need .001 accuracy and a full travel of 24". Prefer to buy and not make unless it is that easy to do. Open for suggestions thanks |

| Look here http://www.cdcotools.com/ I'm looking for those wire coverings that roll up with the wire inside , they look like a link chain or track. Any Ideas what they are called, or where I can buy them? Widgit

| Check this out Widgit, http://cgi.ebay.com/CNC-cable-Wire-t...QQcmdZViewItem I bought from him in the past and spoken with him on the phone a couple times. He seems to know his stuff and my purchases went smoothly but I haven't used this product. |

| Saw the options on the site, Ideally I would like to see just a single readout system. This is for an automated cold saw in a production environment and would just be a better solution for a single axis. We have dug up some glass scales but I'm not sure where a display can be found for cheep that would integrate well. Still looking, any more suggestions? |

| You can make a no-frills DRO with an old pc and the software here, also see Art Ecksteins site for upgrade sw. I found that the buffer transistors were not needed on TTL encoder/scales. http://www.lindsayengraving.com/othe...rests/dro.html Re: the other question for track, Igus is a popular make to use. http://www.igus.com/ Al.

| Have you considered using a precision steel bar and a Trav-A-Dial ? When calibrated, it's accurate within .001" http://www.southwesternindustries.co...urement1.shtml They are for sale on eBay all the time, just make sure you get one with it's adjustment cradle! Widgit |

| rk, This might work, it needs a scale but you can probably find one on eBay also... http://cgi.ebay.com/ACU-RITE-Qwikcou...QQcmdZViewItem |

http://cgi.ebay.com/Carrera-Precisio...QQcmdZViewItem There is a mod here on the Zone to mount it. But it is pretty straight forward. Cut off the jaws and drill the scale to mount to your stationary axis, then mount the sliding portion of the caliper to the movable. Pretty slick Bob |
