| Vct usually means the secondary has a centre tap, so 40vct would mean that it has a 20v-0-20v winding which means you can use it two ways, with two rectifiers one on each of the 20v connections will give you a full wave rectified DC with respect to the 0 tap. which will be 20vac rectified or you can ignore the tap and wire a rect. bridge across the two 20v ends and get a 40vac .
