Hello all, My first post! I have read many posts on 3 phase power from 1 phase residental supply before I bougt a machine. Now that my used supermax ycm 40 with ab 8400 mp is hear I cant run it with a vfd or can I? My problem is that the ab accepts 3phase input to the servo controls . Must I use a rotory converter or can the inputs to the servo controls be split up and run on one single phase? Machine just got hear sat and i am eager to get it running. tanks for your help! |

fariam, I'm don't know how your controller is wired. I would guess that replacing the power supply for the servo drives with on that accepts single phase input power might be possible. Simply wiring the individual phases to single phase will most likely result in smoke or at very least blown fuses or breakers. As to running the spindle motor on a VFD, that would depend on the spindle motor and the VFD you have (if you have one). A bit more information would be helpful. Steve |

| I have tried running some allen-bradley servo controls on 1 phase and it did not work, it looks for 3 phase present. If the servo motors have resolvers, you will need a replacement drive that uses this method. The majority of VFD's under 5hp will run on 1 phase, a check with the manuf. information is recommended. Also what 1 phase de-rating if any is suggested. Al.

| Thanks for the replies POWER and AL I do have a 5 ph 220v 1ph input 220v 3ph output its a teco cv7300 the three controllers each need 1 3ph inut -1 120v 1ph input and a 35.5 1ph volt input then ther are several 22 ga. jumpers for some relays ? if the machine wont recognize the 1ph 120v inputs then I guess the only thing to do is use a converter.no? the other parts of the controls use 220v input transformer to 120v 1ph I can just remove the transformer and wire or plug into a good power strip. yes? If more info is helpful let me know what you need thanks for the help! |
