dc motor control?

i have a tread mill motor dc permanet magnet 20 amp 120 volt. can i run it off a 20 amp ac-dc router speed controler?

Is this a SCR based control? (runs direct off of 120v ac supply).
You can probably get away with it, I would make sure it is well vented or mounted on heat sink and fuse it tightly.

Is that SCR? The constant torque detection is usually done through monitoring the current.
You will probabally find your service supply is 120v, many appliances are marked 110v.

The sheet starts off by specifying a Universal motor only, which yours is not.
But later down the page mentions 120VDC OR Universal?
The 'Not to be used for Inductive style motors' means a regular AC induction motor.
I don't really see any reason why it would not work with a normal PM DC motor?
Like I mentioned before, if the fusing is tight, it should protect it.
Normally SCR type drives are pretty rugged.
