Shielded wire where should I use it?

I am just about to do my final wiring.Where should I use shielded wire .from drivers to breakout board?from transformers to drivers?from driver to stepper motors?To spindle motor?limit and home switches?and is their any special way to wire the system ie. grounding the shielded wire.

Any low level signal wires should be shielded, power supply wires don't generally need to be shielded. If power wires need to cross low level wires, have them cross at 90 degrees to each other otherwise keep them seperated. It is a good idea to shield stepper motor wires due to the high frequency electrical noise. Router motors are notorious for generating electrical noise due to them being brushed motors, go ahead and shield its cord also. Listen to an AM radio while using one and you will see what I mean.

As for connecting the shields, connect them at thier source and leave the other end (far end) unconnected otherwise you will end up with a ground loop.
