I have Radio Shack SPDT Submini roller lever switches I'd like to use as limit switches. First can I ?, and how to wire them. See pdf attached for dwg's. I am electron challenged. Help |

| The way I would do it (assuming direct connection to a bob or the parallel port is to connect C (common) to ground and pin 2 (NC) to the port with a pullup resistor connected to 5V (probably about a 470 Ω resistor. This will give roughly 10 ma current through the switch. Then set your controller to active high. This way, the controller will see 0V under normal conditions and will see 5V when the switch is tripped (OR if some of the wiring were to somehow fail.

Thanks the link is helpfull. But what is a bob? Is it breakout board? And how does using a breakout board effect the schematics Last edited by SPEEDRE; 02-21-2008 at 08:17 PM. Reason: More Questions |

| BOB = break out board. It's a method to wire to the parallel port connector easily when you don't want to solder or crimp pins. Usually a BOB has screw terminals that are numbered/connected to the associated pin on the parallel port db25 connector.
