Wire&Connector Checklist

Hi Folks, I'm about to start building my servo box and want to get your opinion on connectors, fuses, wire size etc.

the system:

power supply - 1.5KVA, 170VDC, 9A
AC drives - 1kW, 12.5A
AC motors - 1kW, 11.7A, 100V
8 wire quadrature encoder
motor brake 24V
motor/encoder cable length 15ft
jog pendant cable length 15ft

Checklist will include:

1. encoder wire, connectors
2. motor wire, connectors
3. fuses on AC line, DC logic and drive power
4. pendant wiring & switches
5. limits & wiring
6. other

Here are my choices for encoder wire:

Belden 9538, 24AWG strand (7X32), 8 conductor
(aluminum-polyester shield with stranded tinned copper drain wire)

and encoder connectors:

Tyco AMP CPC type http://www.action-electronics.com/ampcpc.htm

I can't seem to come up with anything for motor power. What do you think about this one?

It's a 14AWG 4 conductor HOSA speaker wire with Speakon connector that locks into place via a latch-type lock, available at local stores for approx $50/25ft. Would this be enough for my servos?

Your help and comments will be appreciated.

Buy me a Beer?

Walter here are some specs on the speakon connectors.
Model#NL-4
current 30 amp per contact
Voltage 250
Wire size up to 12AWG
Steppers need shield cable,I don't know about servos, you should check.
I am guessing, but I imagine servo drives are PWM which would require shield cable.

Walter,
Here is wire the boys from Oz recommend.
Braided shield has more flex.

Thanks Larry.

I found them in my Allied Electronics catalog, next to the Igus chainflex which also looks decent. Good find.

I used similar wire with
the molex connectors for the power
but seem to be having trouble with the connectors at times
if you come up with good connectors let me know

at this point I am thinking of using regular
extension cord connectors I can get them close by
and they seem to stay connected pretty well

dependable would be nice
