| Too big for what? Those are pretty good size, all right... If you're driving a mill/drill, they're bigger than you need. If you're driving a 20"x72" Lathe... they may not be big enough.. Of course, I'm new at this, and might have missed a long thread where you detailed your project :-) Paul F. |

| You might want to check out Dan Mauch's site.. he has some surplus brand new stepper motors... I got three 680 Oz-in steppers from him. It'll be a while before I get them built into something... Good guy to deal with. www.seanet.com/~dmauch Hope this helps! Paul F. |

Those motors are too big for almost everything. What are you building? Eric

| Im thinking about the 4X8 router ( I have not got the plans yet )... I would like to set it up for routing, plasma cutting and large scale engraving ( items that are 3-4 feet long).. I would like it to have more power then not enough. I would also like to have it set up so I could add the 4th axes to the table when needed. Im at work but I have a link to the table I would like to have just not the 20k (not sure of its true price) to buy it. Im not sure if I can get one machine to do all (routing, plasma cutting and large scale engraving) that I would like but I would like to try.. As for power... well.. I have some old Lorain rectifier that’s set up to charge batterys. Its out put is 54 volts at 100 amps.. It was use at a telecommunications site. It also has 4 very large caps so the output is very clean and runs on 120/240 volts. |

| I would build first, buy motors and drives last. The motors and drive will be the easy part...trust me. As for the driver, the power supply is not the problem. With that style driver there is no way to run big motors efficiently. You would need 6 (two per motor), 300 watt resistors in series with the motors. Eric
