I want to build a small wire-EDM machine. I was brainstorming and it hit me. What if I were able to modify an existing THC to help a potential problem? I was wondering if it was possible to convert a THC for use with maintaining the gap on a wire-fed EDM, in regards to maintaining parts accuracy and flushing. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. |

| They both operate on a similar principle, the EDM actually feeds the electrode in untill it touches the work the voltage collapses and then it backs off the voltage rises and so it moves in again, causing minute spark erosion, the THC actually maintains the arc distance by monitoring voltage. Expensive Units like InnerLogic measure the actual DC voltage at the torch. I would tend to look at building one from scratch like the one published by Home Shop Machinist, by Robert Langois. This version is electrode EDM, not wire, but probabally could be adapted. Al.

| Thanks Al-the-man. I already have a wire-EDM design that I've chosen. I was asking about the THC for the electronic components integration. Nobody offers a turn-key controller for EDM (that I would consider for purchase) |
