For a 3-axis setup, I understand that I need to use 2/3 the total current of the drivers, but do I use the rated current per phase, or ...??? Also, some stepper manufacturers state the current per phase and others just state a current rating. Is that latter per phase or for all phases? Thanks, -Neil. |

| Well.... It depends.... if you assume it's current per phase you will be fine. Too much current capacity will not hurt at all. And it depends... the driver you are using will make a difference. full step/half step/micro step ??? just think of a 12 V car battery, it has the capacity to put out several hundred amps to start the engine, but will run a 1/2 amp dome light just fine and for much longer too.. |
