Hello, This is my first time here and subsequently, my first post - so I hope I'm in the right place. I have a Dynatorch servo operated X,Y, Z axis cutting table and a Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 100 MANUAL plasma cutter (circa 2003). I was told that the high frequency start from my cutter could blow the controller box as well as the servo motors unless I introduce some voltage regulators between them. Also, I was told that with my plasma cutter, I would never be able to get the Z axis to work because my plasma cutter has no way to monitor voltage at the torch (which is how the controller adjusts height). Does anybody have any experience using a hi freq start plasma cutter with a servo actuated cutting system? Thanks for any help, John |

| John, I have a cutmaster 100 also, I tried to use it with my shopbot stepper driven table (because I didn't know better), and it took out a $5 chip on one of the shopbot boards, lucky for me my local electronics wizz fixed it for $30. The alternative was a $700 service exchange from shopbot. I am interested to know if a high frequency start plasma can be run on a servo table, otherwize it seems a new plasma cutter could be the cheapest way to go. Dave |
