Dear All, I have a load of various crimp connectors. Un-insulated, copper, with a tin-plated finish. The cable entries are about 1/16" to 1/8". Cables and wires will be vaguely suited to the cable entries, but will not be ideal. That is not an issue. I want to crimp some wires, and stranded cables to these connectors Various crimp tools are available. Here is the question.. All crimp tools have a "male" and "female" jaw. The "male" bit presses into a hollow where the crimp connector goes. Should the joint in the cable entry tube of the crimp barrel be up or down in the tool?? IE, is the joint in the connector barrel hit by the male bit of the crimp tool, OR 180 DEGREES OTHERWISE? All opinions are welcome, and thank-you in advance, Best Wishes Martin |

| There are many makes of crimpers, I use Weidmuller, they have two types for ring terminals and splices etc, as long as the crimp is right in the centre of the barrel it should not matter. One of the weidmuller I use has a guide for positioning and orienting the terminal. If you look in the tools cat page D15-D16 it will show the type I mean, http://www.weidmuller.com/portal/pag..._schema=PORTAL Al.

| Actually ,no . That is why I made a modest request. Hence the reason for asking experts hereabouts with the original question, yet again. Does the male part of the crimp tool engage with the joint of the crimp connector barrel? Or the other side? Best wishes Martin |

| Okay, I relent . On the odd occasion I have pretended I know enough to connect electrical bits and pieces together I have crimped with the male part of the crimper on the joint. I have no idea if this is how they are intended to be crimped but it results in a better crimp in my experience.P.S. Keeps all dates in October 2008 free for a possible dinner date. You do know where Veraswamees is, I trust.
