I am converting an old LPK pcb router into a three axis machine. The table has two existing stepper motors that are 5 phase. I'd like to stay with these motors. My understanding is 5 phase is more precise and there is less chance of loosing steps. Question one: I was wondering if the older super vexta 5 phase drivers (udx5114's etc..) are constant current "chopper" type drivers. Question two: These motors are 10 wires. Berger Lahr units. Do I wire them as pentagon or star topology? Question three. Does anyone know where I can get a manual for a udx5114 controller? This driver appears to be no longer supported by oriental motor/vexta. |
