| Hi Al, I've got a VFD, at 1HP, marvelous unit, gonna use it on my bandsaw, paid A$280 on Ebay from a local seller, but the mill motor is 2KW with a feed motor and coolant pump as well. To get another VFD for 2HP would cost the earth, or at least A$400 +. I can rig up a phase converter pretty cheap, and the speed control to my way of thinking is a luxury when I've already got a multi pulley belt system on the mill. The real advantage of 3ph motors is they're so available at rock bottom prices. I bought one at 3HP for $50, can't argue with that. Ian. |
