Does anyone know what these are and what they are used for?

If I recall Synchro generators are used as a true servo system whereby the angular displacement of the generator causes an exact angular displacement of a motor remotely connected to it. I imagine this may be something along these lines as to what you have there.

I have some old 120v 60 cycle synchros. They came off old Navy ships. What's cool about them is that by connecting 2 of them together, and turning one, the other one turns the same amount, AND if you hold resistance on the recieving end, you feel the strain on the transmitting end. Lots of fun! When I was a kid, the surplus store near me had them for turning your tv antenna! (miss those kind of places!) Anyway, I bought some of those (90v)from MECI and haven't ever had the time to build a power supply to try them. Let me know if you mess around with any. Rick

RickOmatic, MECI is where I saw them at, I live close to them and I may pick up a couple to mess with.
