Hi; today I looked closely at the stylewriter we have for printing the info on the Victaulic rings we make
The print head is simply 2 NEMA17 steppers with rack and pinion gears; the rails are very small; might be 9mm and 12mm wide max
The printer stylus is air powered for the engraving of the steel (it only punches in about 0.01 deep)
The amazing thing was that up till today; while I have been the guy for the care and feeding of the beast I never really looked at it with the eye of a CNCZone reader/poster
I think we payed $15.000 for the system; I bet there is no more than $1500 in parts; course the software is worth something; however as I told my boss there are free text cutting options out there; at least now if it busts I know how to fix the thing; a big high five for this site; education is good
