I've got a power supply from a robotic tape library I've pulled apart. A lot of the parts in it I'm keeping to use in another power supply I'm building. Because this is my first power supply and cnc project I'm trying to keep it simple. In this power supply was a "Dold Safety Relay." Apparently it's used in eStop circuits. It's a BD5987. Info on this module can be found here: http://www.calcentron.com/Pages/dold_home/dold_home.htm The other interesting thing were 2 Moeller DILER31G contact relays. Info on these is here: http://www.klocknermoeller.com/diler/diler31-g.htm Are these useful for a cnc power supply/controller project or should I just toss them up on eBay? |

| Safty relays are used in e-stop circuits to enable controlled shut down and different conditions to exist when e-stop. There are many options, depending on the model, timers etc. You may not have a need for it in the normal Hobby machine. The contactors, however, I would hang onto, you won't get much on ebay and they may be usefull for switching spindle etc, depending on the coil voltage, for example is the coil is 240 it may not be of use in your case. | Well Al if you know someone who can truly use any of them let me know and I'm happy to send them their way for the cost of shipping. In exchange of course for continued help and advice in these forums. I don't yet have much to offer in the form of knowledge yet in these forums since I'm learning but maybe I can help someone out with a few parts. ![]() Apparently that safety relay isn't cheap. I found it for sale here: http://www.eecontrols-safety.com/swi...chmonitors.htm Between $196 and $223 depending on what model it is. I don't know if the one I have is an 02, 03, or 16 model. Can't tell from looking at it. |
