| Looks like they will, unipolar drivers, up to 3 A and support microstepping. You just have to make up a PCB and you are on your way. I assume you have read a little on this thread... http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24699 Same manufacturer, different chip that uses external N-channel Mosfet's to drive larger motors, I am looking at something similiar as those guys, mainly as it's bipolar and supports higher current configuration's (externally from the chip though...) Let us know how you go. Russell. |

| epineh, Thanks for your reply! No, I will start reading it right now. I am new to making a setup like this and I have not tried soldering IC chips such as the A3986. Is there a tutorial on driver boards out there that explain their function or a tutorial on putting a kit together? Bill

| No tutuorials as far as I know, but the thread I mentioned will give you an idea of the process involved. One of the biggest hurdles is the soldering the chip and making the PCB to start with, I don't have any experience with either (yet) but I have started on the PCB side of things... http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30951 And for soldering the SMD components I was thinking : http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/07/h...oldering-iron/ It is all a work in progress but I will have a build log of it around here somewhere once it is up and running. Russell. |

| I believe Dave from HobbyCNC uses those chips. They are Allegro at least. I would just buy his board rather than make one, It is pretty tough to beat the price http://www.hobbycnc.com |
