The question i have is very simple and the answer may be simpler to the geniuses that are here. I seek permission to ask this question........ I have a diesel test stand by BOSCH which is 5.5HP 3 phase 575v. How can i use this machine using single phase 220V? please help. i am in dire straits. regards AV.....Ajax, Ont. |

| hello turbocanuck my guess would be to 1. get your hands on a rotory phase converter. 2. get an electronic phase converter. ( more expensive ) i hope you dont need this bench running tomorrow, or you will need al the man to come down from the great white north to hook it up for you. good luck garry , former falby crecent resident, now in indiana usa. |

![]() Assuming you are not in an industrial environment or Large Academy or test faciility, where you should certainly have access to 3 phase, even if you have to boost it up to 575v, Then the quickest way might be to put a 7hp 1ph motor on it. Unfortunately no quick down-and-dirty way. Al.

This sounds like a two stage process. 208 to 480 three phase transformers have about the right ratio to go from 240 three phase to 550 or so. Close enough to get you going. Of course you then need the 240 3 ph to feed to the transformer. Ebay sometimes has small ... < 10KVA transformers. Good luck. |

| hello: what does this test bench do? are you talking diesel gas engine? diesel generator tester? - a 5 hp / 3 ph motor can be replaced with a single phase one. - most electronics/electrics in there, if any, usually doesn't need 575v. |
