I have the pieces to put together an unregulated power supply but only know enough to be dangerous. What follows is what I plan, I'm hoping for a sanity check. Start with a transformer that is rated at 27.3 VAC 2.3A output. I measured the output at 31 and some change, for the sake of argument I just rounded it to 30. Rectified voltage through RBV-604 came out to 29VDC A capacitor to smooth it out. C= (80,000 * I)/V C=6,133 uf Could this be used for an electronics power supply or am I way off here? I only plan to use this for experimenting with a 5V 0.8 amp unipolar motor wired for bipolar operation. Thanks in advance, Whitney |

| Are you sure you measured 29 VDC after rectification ? You should get aprox. 37 VDC (27.3 x 1.4 - 1.2). Another thing is that a bipolar wired motor will draw 1.414 x the unipolar amps. So if you are only using one motor you can use a smalller capacitor.
