I am looking to hear from someone that has used a Harbor Frieght or simalar router speed controller. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=43060 I would like to know how well torque is maintained as you lower the speed. Also I was wondering what range you can adjust the speed over. Say for a 24000 RPM 2-3 HP router what is the range of speed that you can operate it over with decent power. Thanks.

| I use one I bought from Grainger and it works quite well. There is some jerkiness at low rpm such as 200rpm but that disappears when you apply a load to it as the rotation becomes quite smooth. The speed control is smooth form 0-full power and torque seems to be hand in hand with speed. I am very satisfied with mine and would easily recommend it to someone looking for a low cost solution to speed control. I am using mine to control a 1/2" drill to mix mortar for laying tile. You have to mix the mortar at 300 rpm so as not to induce bubbles into the mix and the speed control definately does the job. |
