    torch relay problem

I was wondering what kind of relays are you guys useing im having a major problem i have a cutmaster 101 every ssr i try will turn the torch on but will not turn it off. i have tried puck style the cnc4pc relay it seems there is still a little current going through there to keep the torch on even the lights on the ssr is off but the torch is still on .when i jump the relaythe with a screw driver it works fine when every thing is off i have a candcnc break out board and i ordered one of there relays but im starting to think when i get that one im going to have the same problem i was thinking about trying a mechanical relay what do you guys think i have tried 3 brand new relays and 2 used ones all the same problem

It should be easy to detect whether it is being retained by an input current or staying on because the output leakage is sufficient to make the circuit.
When it shows it is turned off, physically remove one of the input connections, if it stays on, it is due to leakage, if it turns off it is because of input current still flowing.
Alternatively, are you using an AC output type to switch DC?

i called theramal dynamics he said at first it was a dc circuti then he said it was a ac circuit the voltage is so low it is like just a light signal when i use the remote switch it works fine on manual im useing ac relays i also tried the dc relay ffrom cnc 4 pc no go im going to try running the ssr realy to operate a mechanical and see if that works but i would like to avoid that
Im going to go downstairs and do the diagnosis that you recommend to see what the problem is ill let ya know
    Thanks Al

With a SSR there is output leakage current, if the circuit you are switching is high impedance, the leakage canl be sufficient to allow the switched circuit to remain on. Even though the input of the SSR has turned off.
With a higher current load, this does not happen.

If it is due to leakage, you really need to find out what form the input logic is in the Cutmaster, is it opto isolated or logic input? etc.
Then it may be possible to adapt.

hey Al thanks for the info about leakage in ssr i just got a 5vdc mechanical relay for $2.00 and she works like a champ ive been fighting with the ssr for a week. Al your a life saver
