    quick stepper electronics question

    standard unipolar stepper motor

    is one step when you energize one coil.
    +
    or is one step when you energize each coil once.
    ++++

    It's not quite that simple.
    Switching Sequence for a full-stepping uni-polar stepper motor, 2 phase:
    Step a b c d
    1 On Off On Off
    2 On Off Off On
    3 Off On Off On
    4 Off On On Off

    Switching Sequence for a half-stepping uni-polar stepper motor:
    Step a b c d
    1 On Off On Off
    2 On Off Off Off
    3 On Off Off On
    4 Off Off Off On
    5 Off On Off On
    6 Off On Off Off
    7 Off On On Off
    8 Off Off On Off

    There is also wave drive, but your probably interested in one of above.
