drill...do you have a second pc you could use?...i still think we are missing something, most of the time this type of error is due to pc\com port setup, software\com port selection, improper cabling, bad connection between pc and emulator, or bad\improper connection between emulator and mpu...i am assuming that the rs232.exe software can run the emulator in a windows environment, i usually use dos...another option is to get buddy's new-style cpu\memory board, it needs no emulator, just turn the machine on and the hurco executive software is running upon power up...but i am not so sure it is compatible with the kmb1 with hurco b control, i think only the bx control...buddy could probably check your cpu out...our nearest rep is out of chicago, or i would love to come help, would be quite a trek though...hurcojohn

drill...here is a cable pinout diagram for you (attached .bmp file)...use this and check your cables thoroughly...also, is the ribbon cable from the emulator board to the mpu board keyed (only can connect one way)?...if it is not, the brown (or red) wire needs to connect to the pin one side of the connector on both the emulator and the (correct) mpu connector...i am in west michigan area...hurcojohn

John, my mpu has 2 connectors on top I am using the left one. One more thing I also have my tape plugged into the emulator where it says tape, should I not have that plugged in since I am not using the tape player for anything. Would that help me out any.

drill...left connector on mpu (j3) is fine, need connection to "tape" on emulator as this is how emulator knows you have pushed master clear button (if i remeber correctly)...are the connectors on the ribbon between the mpu\emulator keyed?...do you have a dos pc you can try?...windows might throw a monkey wrench into the mix...did you get attached cable diagram ok?...john

we might want to try a dos boot disk (ask a computer buddy near you if they could make you one, and put the rs232 program\hurco executive file on it), boot from it, and try to run the rs232 program from it (a:\ prompt\boot diskette)...still presuming your cabling\ports are proper...
