Placing a stripe of identifying color on white wire I’m doing things as cheaply as I can and this trick just occurred to me, some people may already be doing the same or similar. My steppers are six wire with three white wires, solid white, white /green stripe, white red stripe. Not having a large supply of wire of the correct colors I striped some Computer AC Supply Power Cables (had a supply left from old jobs). This gives three wires Green, Black, White. Clean the lubrication off the wires (mine looks like talcum powder) and clamp one end of the white wire so you can pull it taught. Using a FAT “SHARPIE” or other permanent marker hold the marker so that the side of the tip is lying on and perpendicular to the wire while the wire is taught. Now keeping tension on the wire and the side of the marker tip pressed onto the wire back away from the clamped / stationary end of the wire. “SHARPIE” markers come in a rainbow of colors. Mike_L |

| Nice to see your trying to help others with your ideas. keep up the good work; if it were not for people like you who are happy to share their ideas there would not be a cnc zone in the first place. One point, if you are marking the wires for identification purposes why not cut them to the required length then just put a mark near the end opposite to the steppers? Regards, John |
