My Enclosure please take a look.

I have done a drawing of how I plan to set out my electronics. Would some one be kind enough to take a look and let me know if there are any obvious mistakes in my placement?

Unfortunately I am electronically challenged and would very much appreciate some input from you more qualified out there.

I have not included the wiring as yet, I will probably have to work that out as I go.

Is there anything I have missed?

Thanks to anyone in advance I very much appreciate your help.

John

Mlaw1172

Thanks for looking.

I am using stepper motors.

The thing I was most concerned about was interference form power supply to drives.

Should I use shielded cable for all wiring inside the enclosure?

Do you think there would be a problem using a switch with power from my router and signal from parallel port as I have it for emergency stop?

you don't need to use shielded wire inside the enclosure. I am not sure what you are asking about the router ? I can send some pictures of the wiring inside of some enclosures if it would help.

I am planning to run the cable of my router into the control box and through the emergency stop switch.

Thanks for info were shielded cable is concerned.

I would appreciate any help with pictures if I can understand the wiring.

John.

The drives I am using don’t need active cooling.

Have no idea how much heat a power supply will generate. Will I need the fan to cool psu?

Most power suplies come with a cooling fan, transforners can get pretty warm which can add to the heat of other electronics.

Dam I was hoping not to have to add a fan, because of the dust.

If I use an over rated transformer would I still need the fan?

Another thought to consider. I recently finished my control cabinet and did struggle with the placement of the emergency stop button. Initially I had planned to placing it on the control panel front as you have it. However, I figured if there is a problem most likely I'll be at the machine. So, long story short, I placed my in a dedicated box by the machine. If I need to stop it at the panel, I'll hit the power switch.
Anyway, have fun!

Thanks for that but I plan to have the control box close to my machine and planning on my next machine to incorporate the control box with the machine, but good info for others to consider who plan to have their box near their PC.
