    Opto-22 ?

    Hi group,

I see I/O signals and/or 50-pin headers on motioncontrol hardware described as opto-22 compatible. What does that mean ?

    TIA,

    AW

It refers to the breakout boards that support opto isolated input and output devices, Opto22 is a brand that most people refer to, but there are many more that are either identical or support the same type of modules.
The boards are designed to take a ribbon cable or individual terminal arrangement, as well as custom designs.
The devices themselves are solid state plug in devices of various flavours that will convert DC, AC Input/Output SCR, Transistor, relay configurations, I have designed and built my own that integrate into the Acroloop type motion cards.
If you google Opto22 it will lead you to their site.
