Is it possible to program a plc to run steppers? If it is possible can it be used in place of a stepper driver controler?

We have an application with a mitsubishi plc controlling a stepper. I think most plc manufacturers have some motor
control capability in the more advanced models.

you still need the stepper drive, along with the PLC...why not go sevo??..prices are about equal now and servos are way beter..

We use AB stuff exclusiveley

You could drive a stepper with a plc and a stepper drive, but I have no idea how to make a plc read a gcode file. A PC is a much easier solution.
