| As everybody knows, PC PSU has many advantages: high current, low wheigh, small size, shortcut protection, +5v TTL & CMOS compatible, etc, etc... but specially that SMPS for PCs are really cheap. But the only problem is the low voltage to get a good result for yours Stepper Motors. Well.... Could all "The Experts" help me? Could you suggest some solutions -------------------------------------------- I'm trying to find a solution for that problem. I want to try this: ATX PSU with 450W: +12v*18A +5v*45A I step-up them with 2 "MC34063A + IRFZ44" boards (few bucks), getting 24V*8A and all the advantages of a ATX PSU. Please take a look and tell me what you think.

| You are right, There is many Thread on how to connect PSU in series (I did not try them), but this one is aim to get the best efficiency for a single PSU. and preserve the advantages: With 3 PSU you get 256W, with step-up or boost way you can get 196W for 1 PSU Do you lose the shortcut protection advantage with Series connection?, means extra disadvantage for series connection on SMPS. Also, you have to cut/break the Ground protection (3rd prong), so your PSU system will become unsafe, what’s more, dangerous.
