I know this is almost an impossible question

I found a few of these steppers controllers (hopefully they turn out to be any good, there will be one left for me by the time I get back to ebay). Does anyone have any idea what the manufacturer of this board is and if it is any good for a beginner (of course I know that if I build it wrong then it is no good for anyone).

Also, other than a power supply (and of course a computer), what else would I need with it?



This kit will drive a bi-polar stepper motor driver using externally supplied 5V levels for steping and direction. Operation. Attach a bi-polar stepper motor to the "TO" MOTOR terminals. Power to the Kit can be the same or different depending on the stepper motor being driven.

The DIRection and STEP inputs are opto-isolate

This board normally operates at 6A but can be run upto 10A with heat sinks.

Specifications:

* Circuit requires 8-30Volt DC
* Drives Motors from 5-50Volts DC @ 6Amps (Separate Power Supply NOT Required)
* Stepper motors not included.
* All parts and components included.

It looks like a simple bipolar driver that need resistors to limit the current. If that's the case, then it's no good. You won't get much speed out of it and the power resistors will be expensive.

Thanks, I thought there would be some kind of catch to it considering the price. I think it the long run it would be cheeper and less of a headach to get the Xylotex.
