Hi Guys, I am wondering what any of you would recommend as an economical source of high speed I/O (input/output) cards, say with 32 or 64 terminals These things seem to be an awfully high price for what you are getting, at least in my searches. Thanks.

| How cheap are you looking for. I take you want to use this to DNC to many machines correct?

| Hi Cadcam, I guess I shouldn't expect people to read my mind, should I? ![]() What I'm looking for is a digital I/O expansion card for my cnc retrofit. Basically, nothing more than an interface between my operator control panel buttons (momentary and maintained contact buttons) and the PC.

I have been considering a multi-port comm board vs a switch box. How much are these cards? Where should I look? and at what type? I will need support for at least 5 ports, possibly 7. TYIA 'Rekd

| Why high speed: I want to try an experiment a some point with receiving an encoder pulse to trigger a sync signal. But, other than that, I guess I wouldn't really need high speed. Show me anything that is remotely connected with this topic and I'll look at it or consider it.

| I don't know of any off hand Hu, but it's posible to build a I/O card for your parallel port. 32 bits is a little high tho for a single parallel port. What software are you going to use? I really don't have any experience with these io cards. Do you just use your pc as a plc? Eric

| Sort of, I'm getting ready to do another Camsoftcorp retrofit. I'm using a Galil 1842 motion controller, and it has 8 inputs and 8 outputs available on board, but I need a few more inputs. The Camsoft Cnc Professional software (not to be confused with another company's product) expects a properly interfaced i/o card, with an 8255 chip (whatever that is). This is why I think building one is out of my league. But the cards I have looked at cost as much as an ATI Radeon 9800, and have less technology, I would think!
