need a 240v ac router controler for start stop and incress and decress speed at a good prices there are a few of these available on the net the question i have to do with these items is how acarite is the speed control on these boards do you have to calabrate them or if you tall mach3 to do 10000rpm the router will do 10000rpm im a newbe need help it will need to be conected to a g540
There are two types of control of spindle speed: open & closed loop.
In an open loop setup, the controller has no idea what speed the router is doing, and just delivers a percentage of power to it. With a 10K rpm spindle, you say give it 50% power... but since there is no load yet, it runs @ 7K... until you start cutting and then it's 2K or 4K depending on the material and aggressiveness of cut.
In a closed loop setup, there is a sensor on the spindle & can determine the speed of spindle. You configure it, to have a 10K spindle, and what you ask for 50% it works out how much power to deliver to achieve 5K. When you change from cutting air to material, it will automatically up the power delivered to keep 5K.
Close loop controllers like SuperPid www.SuperPID.com - Super-PID Closed-loop Router Speed Controller monitor and adjust the output themselves. You supply 0-5V and it does the rest. Accuracy is determined by the accuracy of the signal sent to them.
Mach3 is capable of monitoring a spindle sensor, and adjusting an output to achieve the desired RPM. With an open loop controller, you can "close the loop" by sending the spindle sensor back to Mach3. Accuracy is almost perfect, since Mach3 will continue to adjust its output to achieve the desired rpm.
I can't say I know much about the details of doing this with a G540.
