I'm taking apart an old machine and I don't know who made this, what its capabilities are or anything about it. I do know it's a red transformer out of a SL7 lathe. Instead of copper wire it uses copper bands, about 1\16" x 1\2". Does this mean it's more heavy duty or just really old? Should I scrap it for the copper of does it have a resale value? I know it's not the greatest picture, but my computer doesn't want me to upload the others. Any help would be greatly appreciated.CNC Parts of Texas |

| Its a 3phase inductor or choke, these are used on VFD's and the like to suppress high frequency pulses or noise on 3 phase equipment. The impedance is low at 0- ~600hz, higher frequencies are suppressed. Al.

| I have to say, You are the man Al. Within minutes you answered my question which implies you didn't look it up and just knew. I'm impressed and thank you. Now after a few hours of looking things up I actually understand what you wrote. As you can guess I'm not a machinist, I'm the sales guy for a new cnc parts company. Our tech (a partner) took this lathe apart and said put these things on ebay and make us some money. Since I don't have any information about the maker or its limits I'm going to put it on ebay as is for $100. If you have any better ideas please, please let me know. I have to say again, truly impressed you knew all that with a bad picture. |
