    Overload on VFD

Im trying to get my 5hp colombo spindles to run off a 7.5 hp Delta VFD055A23B. Im not having much luck and i may have cooked one. I believe i have it set properly, but instead of drawing the 12 Amps the spindle is rated for , its drawing 40!! The motor heats up and the overload trips on the VFD.
The spindle is rated at 230 volt 3 phase, so im not sure what im missing. Its not a dual voltage spindle, at least i dont think it is but if any one has some answers for me to try, im all ears....i really dont want to cook my spindles!!

    Thanks
    Wade

    ok I'll shoot......

if ur motor WERE dual volt and you tried running it as 460v winding on 230v vfd, it would pull low current so not likely this (and u said it is not a dual volt motor anyway).

sounds like you got it set for VECTOR MODE instead of v/hz? can u chech parameter for that & make sure it is not in sensorless vector mode? dont go to it until you get good v/hz mode first.

only other thing it could be is if you have v/hz curve set way off. so for more help, post all the data on your motor nameplate so folks can see if they see a mismatch?
