I am looking to work on another project, probably a reprap or something along those lines. I have used the red motor drive boards from lightobject.com but I haven't had any experience with any of the other cheap boards out there. Is there any out there that anyone would actually recommend? Maybe one with some sort of protection circuit? Easy to set the current and microstepping. Let me know about any recommendations, thank you. |

| HobbyCNCPro 4Axis is by far the best in my opinion. Pros: - Max 3Amp motors, Voltage between 24v and 42v (most people get 36v power supplies). - Has chip protection (if motors get disconnected from the board, lesser chance of chips frying. - On board voltage regulation (only one power supply needed) One single board, no complicated wiring of breakout boards and motor drivers or multiple power supplies. - Minimal parts, for easy assembly and repair. - Great price, fast shipping (Ohio to Washington State took 3 days) - Good customer service, (some parts can sometimes be missing, send Dave an email and he'll send individual parts). Cons: - Only works with 5, 6 or 8 wire motors. - If you have 4 wire motors, i suggest the Mechatronics 4 Axis board for $150 + Shipping. Note that the Mechatronics supports only 2.5Amp max motors.
