A bit off topic for any cnc related topic but I am certain there are some here that use R/c equipment and this may help someone. Recently had DX2 go dead. Turn on but nothing would show on the LCD screen. Try to push bind button and then power on but still absolutely nothing. Checked power from battery pack was getting through to different points on the circuit board, main power 10.5 volts and regulated 5volts at expected places but still nothing. Removed the main battery and did a check on the memory battery (CR2032) on the reverse side of the main board and it was down to about 1/4 of a volt.Should be 3.0 volts.Since I didn't have a 2032 with tags, I fitted a coin battery holder (just fits with a bit of modification to the positive terminal...negative goes straight in)and then slipped in a new standard type 2032. Main battery re-installed and then switched TX on. It beeped (good sign) then came up ERR for error I guess. Turned TX off then back on again and everything was back to normal. Lost any settings that were previously stored, but a relief that the system was ok. For anyone with the same problem it might be worth a try to replace the memory battery. These sets are getting a bit of age on them now and there are bound to be more failing. Parts are available here.......... Batteries - Coin ...scroll down to lower part of the page. I think they charge $4.00 for postage and it takes about 2 -3 weeks for parts to arrive. (base is Bangkok) |
