i am at the stage in my project where i need to attach the motors to the machine and have a few questions about setting up the electronics. i am using the sp3/ht package from stepperworld.com and can't figure out where the white wire and black wire from each stepper motor goes. also which of the wires coming out of the power supply do i use? i have contacted stepperworld.com with my questions but recieved an out of office reply until the end of august. power supply circuit board motors |

| It depends on whether or not you are going to use the resistors. I used the resistors. Coming from the power supply there are a bunch of 4-wire plugs. Red is 5V, the 2 blacks are ground and yellow is 12V on all of them. Now look on the board where the 4 screw terminal is for the power. It should say V+, then 2 ground symbols then 5V right on the board itself. V+ is the 12V (connect the yellow wire) the two ground symbols get the black wires, and 5V would get the red wire. I think if you dont use the resistors, V+ would also be a 5V red wire. I looked at my setup and the black and white wires from all 3 motors are the power wires for the winding and on my setup I have them spliced together into one wire running to the board. Sorry I can't tell you exactly how I have the rest of it setup because all of my extended wires are black and I would have to disconnect everything and use a meter to figure it all out. Hope this helps. Matt |

| Yes, that seems how mine is setup too. Good luck. I liked my board, it worked fine and never had any problems that weren't my own fault. Rustle is not too bad at answering questions. I'm working on upgrading to an arcsin board, but it's not going as well. If anyone is interested, I'm planning on selling my Stepperworld board. I've had it about 6 months and it's worked great, but I am upgrading the motors on my mill to more power and the Stepperworld won't handle the bigger motors. I may also have an arcsin board for sale soon too I'd ask half the going price if anyone is interested, let me know. |

| Saw it somewhere on the web and besides I am old computer guy, been putting them together since the mid-80's so I'm not very afraid to mess around with them. It would also be pretty easy to check with a basic multimeter. Black wires are almost always ground and red wires are almost always power wires on most everything ... but not always Last edited by kochevnik; 08-28-2005 at 11:40 AM. |

Hi, I'm not sure if you're still interested, but if you email stepperworld with the stepper name and model number, they probably have the exact wiring hookup. Their support is great and that would be the first place I'd look. If you can't get a good answer (which I doubt), they also have some tutorials on how you figure it out with a multimeter and trial and error.
